Laura's Favorite part of this Crazy Building Business!

Yesterday was a great day at Blue Hen Construction, (at least for me it was) There are lots of days when the building biz isn't all that fun, but the day when I get to help a first time home buyer pick out siding/paint/carpet/cabinets/counters etc….is almost always a great day. This day will stay with me for a  while because I had such a fun time with my customers. Our new client Vanessa, had her Aunt Joan come in from LaPlata, MD for some decor advise and between the 3 of us we picked out everything for her new home in less than 3 hours. That included a trip to our cabinet supplier, Coastal Cabinetry in Seaford… then next door to flooring at L&L, both in Seaford's Industrial Park. Then we took a short road trip to Federalsburg, MD where we picked out the stone to accent her new home from Quality Stone Exteriors.  There was lots of pondering, "Amen-ing" and then confidently deciding. In short, I had a blast with these lovely ladies. Can't wait to post when Vanessa and her husband Stanford dig the first shovel of dirt on their new home in Seaford, Delaware.  We would love to help anyone else with new construction in Delaware. We are builders in Sussex and Kent Counties, building homes from 1200 square feet up to 5000 square feet. Give us a call, we'd love to talk with you!

A horse of course…..

….or maybe several is what lead us to our potential new construction client meeting last night in Sussex County, Delaware. ( BTW, thanks to Carolyn Rash of Keller Williams Realty for the referral) We met with some great folks last night who, after their "Day Job", use their horses to work with kids who need help with many types of issues. They are looking to expand their Equine Therapy business and have some land they would like to build on. Last night when we were on our way to the meeting at 7pm (!) we were giving ourselves the usual speech of "Let's get this going so we can get home, I'm tired, blah, blah, blah" and as usual we end up leaving our meeting saying, "Gee those were nice people, it was really great talking with them and getting acquainted with them, wasn't it?"  This is what we love to do though: Get in on the beginning of a project and help from ground up to roof top. Don't get me wrong, we will jump in and help with new construction in Delaware at any point, but it's just fun to guide clients through what can be an intimidating process and hopefully help them squeeze every last dollar they can out of their construction budget. Will post if we end up with the job…fingers crossed!! (or hooves, maybe?!?)

Final Walkthrough today

Just completed one of our favorite things…the final walk through on a new home in Sussex County for our customers, The Hurley's. It's a great feeling when there is only 1 or 2 minor tweaks and a customer shakes your hand and lets you know they are happy with your product. Looking forward to a settlement this Friday and handing the keys over.
